Mithun Chakraborty, Bo之一llywood's most prominent characters, began his brilliant career as a simple junior artist before becoming one of the industry's most prominent figures. However, with Mrinal Sen's National Award-winning filmMrigayaa (1976),in which he made his acting debut, he received his first National Award for Best Actor. The1982film'Disco Dancer'established him as one of the finest' dancing heroes'in Bollywood, and as a result, many young people attempted to replicate theMithun-style dance. The renowned actor has produced more than350films over his four-decade career, including appearances in Hindi, Bengali, Oriya, Bhojpuri, Telugu, and Punjabi films. After a few years of appearing in Bengali films such asTitle, Guru, Barood, Yuddho, Tulkalam,andRehmat Ali, he returned to the Hindi cinema industry in 2005 withElaanwhich was his first Hindi feature sinceTitli. In the following years, he appeared in films such asVeer, Housefull 2, OMG - Oh My God, Boss, and Kanchi,to name a few. Mithun also had an essential role in developing the famous dance programDance India Danceon Zee TV, where he served as grandmaster and assessed the contestants' performances.

Education

Mithun's parents,Basanta Kumar ChakrabortyandShanti Rani Chakraborty, were married onJune 16, 1950, in Calcutta, West Bengal, India, and had two children. Having spent two years studying at theOriental Seminaryin Kolkata, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry fromScottish Church College. He completed his graduation from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.

Before getting into the film industry, he was a Naxalite. He returned to his family and abandoned the Naxalites, even though this posed a grave risk to his own life. During his time as a Naxalite, he acquainted withRavi Ranjan; a well-known Naxalite personality affectionately referred to as"Bhaa"by his pals (the ultimate savior). Bhaa was renowned for his oratory ability and his manipulation powers.

Bollywood Debut

Chakraborty played an excellent role in Mrinal Sen's National Award-winning movie,Mrigayaa (1976).Do AnjaaneandPhool Khile Hainboth had minor roles of Mithun. His first big hit was the 1978 movieMera Rakshak.When he first came to the attention, he starred in the low-budget spy movieSurakshaa (1979),which was directed by Ravikant Nagaich. A critical film of Mithun wasPrem Vivah,directed by Basu Chatterjee.

Chakraborty had a significant impact on Hindi movies in the 1980s because of his "brand of impossible heroics and lines made for the front row," he said. He has acted in different types of films, like action, family dramas, romantic movies. He playedBheemain the multi-starrerHum Paanch, which was a big hit in 1980. He played his first double role inTaxi Chor(1980). He played a lead role in Disco Dancer in1982, which led to a rise in his popularity.

Bengali Films

Chakraborty won a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor inAgneepath,which was his first movie. His second National Film Award for Best Actor for the Bengali movieTahader Kathawas in1992.

For the movieJallad,he got the Filmfare Best Villain Award and the Star Screen Award for Best Villain in 1995. In the 1980s, Chakraborty had the record for most Hindi films in which he played a lead role. Another National Award came in1998for Best Supporting Actor for his role asRamakrishna ParamahamsainSwami Vivekananda, by G. V. Iyer.

Between 1988 and 1999, 30 films of Chakroborty were released, of which many were superhit. From 1995 to 1999, he became the highest taxpayer in India. There were a lot of low-budget movies that became popular due to Mithun Chakroborty's role. Chakraborty is more of a businessman than a star. He has his hotels in Masinagudi, Ooty, Tamil Nadu, Mysore, Siliguri, and Kolkata. Bollywood took a back seat to make Bengali films after that. In 1999, he starred in the movie"Gudia."In 2002, he starred in Rituparno Ghosh's movie"Titli."

Current Movies

His most recent movie,The Kashmir Files, was released globally onMarch 11, 2022, and has proven to be a box office triumph, earning him a Golden Globe nomination.

Television Career

He founded the concept ofDance India Dance, an Indian dance competition that is broadcasted on Zee TV. The show has become India's largest dance-based reality show, with over a million viewers worldwide. The program has won several television honors. Chakraborty was the Grand Master of Dance India Dance Li'l Masters and the host of the reality TV showDadagiri Unlimitedon Zee Bangla. Chakraborty made his television debut in the comic seriesThe Drama Company,in which he played the role of Shambu Dada.

Political Career

On7thFebruary 2014, he became an MP after being nominated for the Rajya Sabha from West Bengal on behalf of the All-India Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the West Bengal Rajya Sabha Assembly. He resigned his position as a member of the Rajya Sabha on the26thof December 2016. He became a member of the Bhartiya Janata Party onMarch 7, 2021.

Brand Ambassador

In the late 1980s, he served as the ambassador of Panasonic electronics in India. He is now the face ofGoDaddy, a company that registers domain names and hosts websites on the web. Chakraborty is also the face of West Bengal'sManappuram Gold Loan Campaign, which he launched in 2012.

Mithun was born and raised in a Bengali Hindu Brahmin family. Early in his career, he was in a relationship with an actress named Sarika (the second wife of Kamal Haasan). He marriedYogeeta Bali, an Indian actress, in 1979. Mithun and Yogeeta have four children three sons (Mahaakshay Chakraborty, Ushmey Chakraborty, and Namashi Chakraborty) and an adopted daughter Dishani Chakraborty.

Mithun had a long-term relationship with renowned actress Sridevi in the 1980s. They met in the film directed by Rakesh RoshanJaag Utha Insan. In 1985, they secretly married, which Mithun subsequently admitted to the world when a fan magazine revealed their marriage certificate.
